The MacGregor 26 x Powersailer was proudly
built in the USA and hugely popular around the world as a cruising boat
for their unrivalled interior room, stability and light towing weight.
The large outboard motor enables them to power at a claimed 20 knots and
still handle well for a cruising boat under sail. They are self righting
(with ballast tanks full) and the built-in foam buoyancy provides a large
safety factor. The MacGregor 26 x powersailers are water ballasted
and need no internal fixed ballast, so are very light for size to tow.
They were supplied from the factory on single axle trailers.
The MacGregor 26 x boasts an airy open interior layout, with three double
berths, fully enclosed toilet & wash basin, galley and more. The
centreboard on the Mac 26 x is a swing keel, which is forgiving if you
accidentally run aground while sailing, and the flat hull shape means she
is very stable and will sit flat when the water goes out on Whitehaven
Beach in the Whitsunday Islands. The transom is wide and easy to
access either from the shore or water. They have a great mast
handling system for easy mast raising and lowering, and all sail controls
lead back to the cockpit. MacGregor 26 x's have a huge cockpit with
optional cushions and an optional bimini top for sun protection. They are
very easy to handle whether under sail or power, and with wheel steering,
most beginners find themselves at home in no time.
This boat was launched in late 2001 and is excellent value considering the
age, inventory and good condition
throughout. Work commitments meant the vendor has not used the boat
for some time, so it's time to sell. He is seeking a quick sale and
has priced the boat accordingly. The boat is not in need of
renovation - she is ready to take you cruising today.
She has a comprehensive inventory with wheel steering, very good Doyle dacron
mainsail, with luff slides for easier handling, good Ray Brown dacron genoa
with Schaefer Snapfurl rod furling, Ray Brown Spinnaker in "as-new"
condition. Trailer was custom made specifically for the boat by MacGregor USA in October 2001
and is currently NSW registered until 24th January 2008, with hydraulic
brakes & flushing attachment, and both fore & aft guide arms for easier launching &
retrieving. The motor is a 2002 model Tohatsu 50 HP outboard with
electric start and power tilt & trim.
She is set up for cruising with liferails, a chemical toilet & wash basin, esky for
the cockpit as well as the original tub under the settee, cockpit cushions
all-round, bimini top, Origo 2000 metho stove, sink, GME 27 MHz
transceiver, GME Radio-CD Player with Sony speakers, 12 volt battery with
facility to fit a second battery if desired, interior lights including
inside toilet compartment and for the king size double berth under the
cockpit, navigation lights, Suunto compass, first aid kit, stainless
boarding ladder and more. In summary, this is a cruising boat that
you will be proud to own.
